Abstract

1432971 Rotary positive-displacementfluid-machines A J PARKER 28 June 1974 [28 March 1973 8 May 1973 6 June 1973 15 Nov 1973] 14799/73 21795/73 27104/73 and 53076/73 Heading F1F In an I.C. engine a rotor D has pivoted blades E1, E2, F1, F2, controlled by stationary cams L1, L2, M1, M2, and engaging with a casing A having a projection N situated on the leading side of a spark-plug and remote from a working-fluid inlet and an exhaust-gas outlet, the rotor having circumferentially orientated grooves X for transference of the compressed working-fluid from the leading to trailing side of the projection. Com- , pression is effected by the blades F1, F2 while on the leading side of the projection, these blades being retracted while on the other side, Figs. 1A to 1D (not shown). The blades El, E2 are retracted while on the leading side of the projection and acted upon by the expanding combustion products while on the other side so as to rotate the rotor. Springs Z may be provided to load the blades radially. Cooling may be effected by oil flowing through cavities in the rotor side walls and parts V. Sealing rings S may be pressed against the rotor periphery by springs T and a wedge effect.
