Abstract
1306575 Turbine shrouding WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 27 May 1971 [2 July 1970] 17525/71 Heading FIT The stationary shrouding surrounding the tips of axial flow gas turbine rotor blades 14 comprises segments 22, each consisting of axially and radially extending portions 23, 24 connected by a bracing member 25. The latter has an opening 33 to permit access to a bolt 32 securing the segment to a stator vane support ring 13. Sealing strips 27, 28 bridge the gaps between adjacent segments 22. A honeycomb lining 30 is provided on portions 23. The arrangement shown is for the last stage of a multistage turbine, but in a modification Fig. 4 (not shown), for an intermediate stage a segmental O-ring seal (36) is provided between a radially outwardly extending flange (37) at the downstream end of each segment 22 and the surrounding stator vane support ring 13.
