Abstract

1432890 Cam followers &c GENERAL MOTORS CORP 18 July 1974 [16 Aug 1973] 31854/74 Heading F2K [Also in Division F1] An I.C. engine has a rocker assembly comprising rocker arms 33 which engage bearing surfaces on the underside of the rocker cover 50, each rocker arm being accommodated in the cover 50 by means of bearing pockets 54. Hydraulic valve tappets 22 drive the rocker arms 33 via hollow pushrods 21 through which oil passes, into passages 41 in the rocker arms and subsequently into grooves 40 located in the bearing surfaces 36 of the rocker arms. A locating member 60 is attached to the cylinder head and has U-shaped clip members 62 which retain the rocker arms in alignment with the valve stems 13 and pushrods 21 when the rocker cover is removed.
