1431706 Hospital beds SIDDAL & HILTON Ltd 29 Oct 1974 [1 Nov 1973] 50814/73 Divided out of N1A Addition to N1A Heading A4J [Also in Division F2] In a hospital bed the mattress frame 12 is secured to a jacking mechanism 13 on a base 10 by at least three releasable connections, each connection comprising a projection on one part and a complementary slot on the other part, means being provided for preventing accidental disengagement of the projections from the slots. As shown Fig. 1 those arms 14 of the jacking mechanism 13 which are nearest the bed head are inter-connected by a transverse bar 27 whose ends form projections which engage in slots 18 of the mattress frame 12 (only one shown). A longitudinal member 26 runs centrally along the jacking mechanism from bar 27 to a similar bar at the foot of the bed (not shown). A leg 28 depends from member 26 and carries a transverse peg (32), Fig. 3, (not shown) at its lower end to engage in a slot (30) Fig. 3 at the lower end of strut 29. The projectors are prevented from accidentally leaving the slots by screws engaged in threaded holes in the sides of the slots. The screws may be adjusted to bridge the mouths of the slots after insertion of the projections. The ends of the bar 27 serve as pintles in slots 18 so that adjustment of strut 29 in length serves to adjust the angle of the mattress frames.
