Abstract

1431672 Marine fenders BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 22 Feb 1974 [23 March 1973] 14088/73 Heading B7S A fender installation or a method of producing it, the installation comprising a shield 5, 6, 7 of plastics material spaced from a structure 4 to be protected, the cavity 14 between the shield 5 and the structure 4 being filled with a solid mass formed by the setting of a flowable material. The shield may be in the form of units 5, 6 and 7 and may have projections 15, to assist keying and 8, to facilitate pouring of the flowable material. The shield may be retained permanently as in Fig. 1 or temporarily, e.g. by a strap 20 as in Fig. 3 (not shown). The shield 5, 6, 7 may be of polyethylene, with or without the addition of up to 10% by weight of graphite. The flowable material may be a filled, unsaturated polyester resin. The surface of the structure may be shaped to provide a key for the-flowable material.
