Abstract

1431549 Dyestuff mixtures IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 4 Oct 1973 [1 Nov 1972] 50306/72 Addition to 1358445 Heading C4P Mixtures of disperse anthraquinone dyestuffs consisting of dihydroxydiaminoanthraquinones and N-methyl derivatives thereof in granular or powder form are prepared by reacting a dihydroxydiaminoanthraquinone, or mixture thereof, with formaldehyde in an aqueous medium containing 1-20% by weight, based on the weight of water present, of hydrochloric or sulphuric acid in presence of an anionic dispersing agent, neutralizing the mixture and then subjecting the mixture to milling and then drying. The anionic dispersing agent, e.g. a disodium salt of a condensate of formaldehyde and a naphthalene sulphonic acid is preferably used in amounts of 50-250% by weight of the anthraquinone compound. The dyes are used to dye polyesters.
