Abstract

1431411 Anti-theft lock VOLVO PENTA AB 4 Feb 1974 [9 Feb 1973] 05104/74 Heading E2A In an anti-theft lock for a boat having wheel steering, the latter, having a cog wheel, engages a steering cable, having a cogged surface formed thereon, to actuate a rudder. the steering is locked by a slidable bolt 23, Fig. 2, having a portion 24 provided with teeth 25, being moved into engagement with the cogged surface of the cable 13. The latter passes through a housing 11 and has a core 14 with steel wire 15 helically wound therearound to form said cogged surface. The bolt 23 is mounted in a portion 17 of the housing 11 and, having a flange 31, is urged by a spring 32 away from the cable 13. A member 28 is rotatably mounted on the bolt 23 and carries a member 34 which when the bolt 23 is moved axially, is engagable with stops 35, 36 on the housing portion 17 to retain the bolt in contact with the cable or to prevent the bolt from contacting the cable. The bolt may be connected, via the member 28, with an ignition lock 37, Fig. 3, having a cylindrical member 38 which is rotatable by a key (not shown) to allow a contact 41 on the cylindrical member 38 to connect with an electrical supply 39 and to rotate the member 28. The stops 35, 36, Fig. 2, may be replaced by slots, one of which, 42, is shown in Fig. 3.
