Abstract
1430804 Centrifugal strainer MASCHINENFABRIK BUCKAU R WOLF AG 16 April 1973 [19 April 1972] 06637/74 Divided out of 1430803 Heading B1D A centrifugal strainer drum for treating nylon fibres has a cylindrical wall 1 and an extraction nozzle 28, which is connected to a suction fan to empty the drum and is movable axially down the drum and pivotable into the position of Fig. 2, wherein the plane of the mouth 29 of the nozzle makes angles α and # with a tangent and a radius of the drum and α is less than #. To assist the nozzle to pick up fibres and to prevent fibres accummulating on the nozzle or on the drum floor, an external source supplies compressed air via inlet 32 to a series of apertures. One aperture 37 is of crescent shape and connected to duct 35 to deliver air to the nozzle mouth and blow fibres from the drum wall. Duct 35 is also connected at 40 to a chamber defined by a nozzle mounting sleeve 39, whence air passes from an aperture 41 to blow fibres from the nozzle top. A blade 28a, 28b extends along and across the mouth of the nozzle, and a duct 31 is enclosed between the blade and the nozzle which supplies air to two apertures 33 and 34, defined by double walls. Inlet 32 also supplies air to nozzles 24 and (25) (Fig. 1, not shown).
