Abstract
1430574 Mechanical switches; fluid-pressure actuation HERGA ELECTRIC Ltd 11 July 1973 [2 May 1972] 20465/72 Heading H1N An electric switch 9 is actuable either by fluid pressure in a flexible conduit 12 or mechanically by pulling on the flexible conduit 12. In the example a diaphragm 13 is squeezed to expand a diaphragm or bellows 1 which pivots a plate 2 about its hinge 3 whereby an L-shaped lever 7 is pivoted at 8 to release the plunger 10 of a microswitch 9. The switch 9 may be held in the on or off position by a detent 11 arranged to resiliently engage the end of an arm of the lever 7. The diaphragm may be replaced by piston- and-cylinder assemblies which may operate with positive or negative pressures. Manual pulling of the conduit 13 also actuates the switch 9 by pivoting the plate 2. The switch may be reset by depressing the push-button 12 which may contain an indicator lamp.
