Abstract
1429997 Fuse elements BBC BROWN BOVERI & CO Ltd 7 May 1973 [9 May 1972] 21705/73 Heading H2G A fuse element Si, for use in diode and thyristor columns or stacks is clamped under pressure between cooling ducts K such that a cooling duct K lies between the metallic contact surfaces Kf of the fuse element and a semi-conductor element H. The fuse element comprises an insulating ring I s at the axis of which is located the fusible portion S of, e.g. silver, the annular space therebetween being filled with quartz Q. Cooling water circulates in ducts K. A failure indicator is provided on the insulator. The contact surfaces K f may be alternatively constructed as coolers. Bores may be provided for centring pins to ensure concentric positioning of the elements.
