Abstract

1429650 Valves NATIONAL VULCAN ENG INSURANCE GROUP Ltd 12 Oct 1973 [29 July 1972] 35589/72 Heading F2V In a valve having a through-flow passage 11, Fig. 1, and a closure element, e.g. a slide disc assembly 12, the closure element is retained in the valve-open position shown against the action of a torsion spring (18), Fig. 2 (not shown), by a latch 22 itself maintained in the position shown by energizing an electromagnet 27, e.g. a rectified D.C. magnet. De-energization of the magnet, e.g. via an air thermostat, manual knock-off control or liquid level detecting means, releases the latch 22 and allows the torsion spring to move the closure element to its closed position. The closure element is moved from its closed to open positions by a handle 15, the consequent raising of armature plate 26 automatically causing the electromagnet to become energized.
