Abstract

1429059 Hopper barges BAGGERMAATSCHAPPIJ BOS & KALIS BV 17 Aug 1973 [21 Aug 1972] 39084/73 Heading B7A The two halves 1, 2 of a hopper barge are moved about a hinge 6 between an open and a closed position by a screw or hydraulic jack 8 and a lever system comprising levers 11, 14 connected to pivots 10, 13 on the jack and 12, 15 on the halves 1, 2 respectively and a third member interconnecting the levers 11 and 14. The third member may comprise either a connecting rod having pivots 19, 20 at respectibe ends which are connected to the levers 11, 14 either directly or indirectly by way of arms fixed on levers 11, 14, or two rods fixed to levers 11, 14 respectively and pivotally interconnected in the vertical plane containing the barge's centre line. A second oblique connecting rod 18 may interconnect the levers 11, 14.
