Abstract

948,968. Hatch covers. PNEUMO DYNAMICS CORPORATION. Sept. 25, 1961 [Dec. 15, 1960], No. 34328/61. Heading B7S. [Also in Division E2] Mechanism for moving a pair of panels 11, 12, particularly a ship's hatch cover, between a coplanar closed position and a parallel stowed position comprises first and second hinge elements 26, 30 pivotally connected at 17 and secured to the respective panels, an actuating lever 40 pivoted to the first hinge element at 44, a link 45 pivoted to the actuating lever and the second hinge element respectively at 46 and 47, and power-operated means such as an hydraulic jack 50 pivoted to the actuating lever at 53 and adapted to rotate it about the pivot 44, the arrangement being such that in the closed position of the panels the pivot 46 is closer to the plane of alignment of the panels than are the pivots 47 and 53. The plane of alignment is defined as the plane of the front faces 11, 12 of the panels.
