Abstract
1427600 Ignition systems HITACHI Ltd 14 Aug 1973 [25 Aug 1972] 38476/73 Heading F1B An ignition system for an internal combustion engine comprises means 7 for converting a D.C. voltage from a low voltage supply 1 to a high voltage, a capacitor 8 for storing the high voltage and arranged to discharge its stored energy into a first ignition coil 4a in response to ignition timing means 10 and a second ignition coil 4b having a transister switch 2, 3 connected in series with its primary winding so as to interrupt the current flowing therein in response to the ignition timing means, the arrangement being such that each time one ignition plug of the engine is connected to the ignition system energy is supplied to the plug first from the first ignition coil and then from the second ignition coil, means 11, 12 being provided to prevent current flowing from one ignition coil to the other.
