Abstract

1427402 Hydrocyclones DOMINION ENG WORKS LTD 14 May 1973 [18 July 1972] 22866/73 Heading B2P [Also in Division D2] In a web forming machine, liquid issuing as a horizontal jet at a first level of the machine enters a down flow controller device 26 to leave at a second lower level as a non-cascaded substantially de-aerated flow. The device 26 has a substantially vertical tubular body, downwardly inclined liquid entry means 24 at the first level spaced from the upper end of the body and connected thereto in off-centred relation to the longitudinal axis 'of the body to impart in operation downward and tangential flow components to the liquid, while permitting unobstructed up-draft of air and vapour which leaves by an outlet 28 with possible fan assistance. The liquid level within device 26 may be maintained at an optimum level by a control connected to a valve located at outlet 30.
