Abstract

1427147 Releasable fastenings RAPID METAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 21 Aug 1973 [7 Sept 1972] 41516/72 Heading E2B Releasable fastening means for connecting together a pair of members wherein one of the members 10 has a hollow bracket 14 and the other member 11 has a lug 18 formed with a recess 19 receivable in the bracket when the lug is inserted through an aperture 17 in the bracket, includes a wedge 20 having a first surface 21 engageable with the recess 19 when the lug is disposed within the bracket and when the wedge is in an operative position, as shown in full line, releasably to secure the lug to the bracket, and a recess 22 formed in a second surface which is opposite the surface 21, the recess being engageable with a portion, i.e. the web 15, of the bracket when the wedge is in an inoperative position wherein the surface 21 is disengaged from the recess 19 so that the lug can be removed or inserted into the bracket; the recess 22 is so disposed that it is within the bracket when the wedge is in the operative position thereof. As shown, the member 10 is in the form of a sleeve secured to a scaffold tube 12 and receives a second tube 13, the bracket being of channel form, and the wedge has a recess 23 which allows withdrawal of the lug when the wedge is in its inoperative position.
