Abstract
1426994 Bag filling devices LIBRAWERK PELZ & NAGEL KG 8 March 1974 [9 March 1973] 10493/74 Heading B8C A bagging device includes a feed device 1 having a discharge hopper 2 below which is located a horizontally reciprocable feed hopper 3 running on rails 8 and driven by a cylinder 9. The feed hopper is provided with a discharge pipe 4, against which a bag 6 can be clamped by clamp 5, and is so located and shaped relative to the discharge hopper that material from the hopper can flow into it at any position between the two extremes illustrated in the figures. In operation, a bag is clamped over the discharge pipe, closure of the clamp opening a shut-off member 2a in the discharge hopper to allow material from the discharge hopper to fall into the feed hopper and thence into the bag. The feed hopper is then transferred from the bag attachment position of Fig. 1 to the ejection position of Fig. 2, during which transfer discharge of material from the discharge hopper into the feed hopper and thence into the bag continues. When the bag is filled it is unclamped and loaded on to take-off conveyer 10. Unclamping of the clamp closes the shut-off member and the feed hopper is pushed back to its starting position in Fig. 1 to commence a fresh bag filling cycle. By enabling material to be fed from the discharge hopper to the feed hopper and thence to the bag during movement of the feed hopper to the ejection position, the overall cycle time of the device is reduced. A further reduction in cycle time may be achieved by providing the outlet pipe of the feed hopper with a shut-off member (see Figs. 3 and 4, not shown). In further embodiments, the feed hopper is connected to the discharge hopper by a parallelogram linkage mechanism or by a flexible hose, the feed hopper being linearly reciprocated. In a yet further embodiment, the feed hopper is pivotally connected to the feed device to swing from a bag application to a bag take-off position. A flexible base directs material from the feed device to the feed hopper.
