Abstract

1426817 Retractable writing instruments N A ZEPELL 27 March 1973 [5 April 1972] 14659/73 Heading B6P A retractable writing instrument comprises a writing cartridge 20 which is displaced axially by movement of a pocket clip 40 in and out of the casing of the instrument through a cam means. The clip 40 may be formed with a cam surface 42 which, when the clip is pressed into the casing with the cartridge 20 retracted, urges the cartridge outwardly against a spring 24. Alternatively the cam surface may be formed on a sleeve (98, Fig. 8, not shown) equivalent to the sleeve 30 of Fig. 1 which engages the cartridge 20.
