Abstract

1,092,396. Water pistol. MATTEL Inc. Sept. 16, 1965 [Feb. 18, 1965], No. 39539/65. Heading A6S. [Also in Division B6] In a combined multiple-retractable writing instrument and water pistol, each lead carrier has a button 48 extending through a longitudinal slot in the barrel,and a ledge 49 which engages in the slot when the carrier is in the projected position. A conti-lever spring 51 on the lead carrier engages a central divider 42 when in the projected position to urge the ledge 49 into the slot. Inward radial pressure on the button 48, which may be coloured to indicate the nature of the lead or ball-point cartridge, releases the ledge 49 from the slot, and the coiled spring 64 forces the carrier from the projected position into the retracted position. A flexible grommet or seal 74 attached to the end of the barrel, co-operates with a telescopic cap 66 provided with a pin hole 82, so that the cap 66 may act as a water pistol.
