Abstract

1426811 Tamper-proof closures A KELLER 6 March 1973 10931/73 Heading B8T A screw cap 5 in position over a container neck 1 is rendered tamper-proof by locating a heat-shrinkable securing ring 8 with inwardly facing flange 8<SP>1</SP> around the cap rim 7 and then passing the container through a heating zone so that the securing ring shrinks and embraces the rim 7 and constricted portion 4 of the container as shown on the right hand side of the figure. The heat causes the material of the ring 8 to become brittle so that it is broken when the sealing cap is unscrewed.
