Abstract

1426415 Rotary folders ALBERT-FRANKENTHAL AG 18 Feb 1974 [28 Feb 1973] 7224/74 Heading B8R In a rotary folder of the groove and knife type having a rotatable cylinder 1, the cylinder periphery is constituted by spring bows 9 mounted on pairs of spindles 4, (4<SP>1</SP>), Fig. 1 (not shown), via holders 8 and levers 5, the spindles being rotatable, during rotation of the cylinder, to adjust the cylinder diameter. Cam levers 10 attached to the ends of the spindles 4, (4<SP>1</SP>) are biased towards, and abut, a stepped cam plate 12 rotatable with the cylinder 1, and relatively thereto about the cylinder axis. The cam plate has a toothed segment 22 engaged by spiral teeth on a spur wheel 20 rotatably fixed on the cylinder, the spur wheel also being in engagement with spiral teeth 21 on a shaft 18 co-axial with the cylinder 1, rotatable therewith, and adjustable axially thereof via a rotary bearing 23, a screw threaded spindle 24 mounted in a fixed frame member 17 and an adjustment handle 25 and locking lever 26, or an adjustment motor. Thus the shaft 18 can be moved axially whilst the cylinder 1 is rotating, thereby rotating the spur wheel 20, the stepped cam plate 12 and the spindles 4, (4<SP>1</SP>) to adjust the radial position of bars 9.
