Abstract

1424826 Zirconia containing magnesia brick VEITSCHER MAGNESITWERKE AG 1 May 1973 [23 May 1972] 20671/73 Heading C1A [Also in Division F4] A fixed refractory brick containing magnesia as the main component and an additive of a zirconium oxide, the portion of additive of particle size below 1 mm. being at most 50% the additive being distributed unequally along the length of the brick with a maximum concentrate at one end of the brick. This type of brick may then be built into a furnace lining in such a way that the end enriched with zirconium oxide is directed towards the heat. The magnesia suitably contains more than 90% MgO and less than 2% Fe 2 O 3 . ZrO 2 additive preferably has particle size of 0À2-5 mm. and constitutes 1-5% brick. The brick may be impregnated with tar or pitch.
