Abstract

1424576 Doffing and donning ZINSERTEXTILMASCHINEN GmbH 17 April 1973 [17 April 1972] 18527/73 Heading DID Grippers are raised and lowered, to don and doff bobbin tubes, by at least one drive unit via mechanical linkages, the speed of each unit being automatically varied during gripper movement. Gripper-supporting rail 11 is raised and lowered by hydraulic or pneumatic drive unit 52 via axially slidable rod 24; and linkages 19, 20. The rail, linkages, rod and non-sliding bearings 7 are pivotable about the rod axis by drive means (not shown). Endless chain 58, moved by rail 11, adjusts valve 55 to control the speed of unit 52 to move the rail at contant speed. The chains may be replaced by a cam surface fixed to the rail or to the unit 52, or by a snail cam rotatable with a link 19 about a pivot 29. Unit 50 may be replaced by an electric motor driving gears engaging a rack on bar 24'; the gear ratio being adjusted by a linkage connected to bar 11. Alternatively, Fig. 5, a threaded rod 24' may be moved by motor 69 rotating nut 67. Tachogenerator 95, driven by rail 11 via rack and pinion 94 emits a signal dependant upon rail speed which is compared with a reference value in controller 96 to produce a difference signal which adjusts the speed of motor 69 via servomotor 97 and variable resistance 71. The rail speed may be non-uniform, e.g. increasing and decreasing uniformly on either side of the mid-point of rail movement. The rail speed may alternatively be controlled by a time programme, e.g. by punched cards.
