1423774 Welding by fusion S PAULANGE 2 Feb 1973 5226/73 Heading B3R [Also in Division G3] In TIG welding of an irregular seam between workpieces 29, 30, a TIG head 2 is supported on a carriage 31 movable along the X axis, a motor 38 responsive to change of working arc voltage between the head electrode and the workpieces or a deposited bead adjusts the head along the Z axis, and a motor 35 responsive to change of a secondary arc voltage between the electrode and a reference member 33, insulated from the workpiece 30 by a strip 34, adjusts the head along the Y axis. Filler wire 3 is fed to the joint.
