Abstract

1422758 Clamping devices H FEND 7 March 1974 [27 March 1973] 10235/74 Heading E2B [Also in Division F2] A flange coupling for pipes having flanges 25, 25' with an intervening seating ring 31 comprises a chain the links of which are formed by tightening elements 32 wedge shaped inner grooves which are either straight or have a curvature of a larger radius than that of the flanges. As shown, the elements 32 are interconnected by intermediate links 30 and pins 29. Terminal tightening elements 37, 38 are each received between one pair of link units 33, 33' of an adjacent intermediate element 30 and a tightening screw 34 guided through the element 37 and secured thereto by a circlip 39, is screwed into the other tightening element 38. The screw pulls together the two extremities of the coupling via a socket 45 and bearing 36. In the embodiment shown the tightening elements press via flanges 27, 27' and open rings 26 26' on the flanges 25, 25'. In a further embodiment, Fig. 2, these flanges 27, 27' are omitted and either three or four tightening elements provided depending on the flange size.
