142,172. Mavor & Coulson, and Moore, M. S. Jan. 25, 1919. Coal-cutting machines.-Mining-machines for cutting, coal &c. are capable of being furnished to constitute cutter-bar or chain-cutter machines and are convertible from one type to the other. As shown, the machine comprises a motor casing A and head casing B, the latter being open at the bottom to receive the cutter-bar mechanism C, Fig. 1, or cutter-chain mechanism C<1>, Fig. 3. Each mechanism may have an axial support depending from the top of the head casing, as illustrated in Specification 7465/11. The cutter-bar mechanism may also be as shown in that Specification. The driving-shafts D, D<1> are interchangeable and may be slidably connected to the rotor of the motor. The driving-wheel on the shaft D<1> may be integral therewith.
