Abstract

1421588 Centrifugal fans I LAING 28 Feb 1973 [2 March 1972] 9705/73 Heading F1C [Also in Division F4] A space heater comprises a friction type centrifugal fan impeller 4 and an electrical resistance heating element 8 upstream of the impeller 4. The impeller comprises spaced annular members or a helically coiled aluminium strip. The annular members or the turns of the strip are spaced apart by washers or flanges around bolts 5. The heating element 8 is formed as a helical strip or a sinuous strip arranged in annular form. The turns of the strip defining the impeller 4 may form frustoconical nested surfaces and the heating element may be surrounded by the impeller 4. The fan motor 1 is air cooled and the impeller 4 may be surrounded by a volute casing.
