1421396 Vehicle platform lift AVO INTERN TRANSPORT BV 30 Oct 1973 [1 Nov 1972 18 May 1973] 50371/73 Heading B8E A vehicle platform lift 6 is pivotally supported on a structure 5 by parallel arms 7, 8 the latter being telescopic. The platform 6 can be moved from a vertical inoperative position, Fig. 1, in which it is held by latches 27 to a downwardly inclined ground engaging position. Fig. 4 with a lowering movement between the vehicle floor 4 and the first contact with the ground with the platform horizontal. A single acting hydraulic cylinder 15 extends between a pivot point 18 on the arm 8 and an end pivot 19 of a rocking lever 20 to the other end of which the arm 8 is pivoted at 12 and which is itself pivoted at 21 intermediate of the points 12, 19 to the structure 5. An adjustable stop 23 limits the movement of the arm 20 and prevents its backward movement beyond the vertical. From the position of Fig. 4 extension of the cylinder 15 first brings the stop 23 against the structure 5 and thus brings the platform 6 to the horizontal postion. Further cylinder extension then raises the platform held horizontal by extension of the arm 8 being prevented by a latch 25 up to the vehicle floor 4 at which point if unlatching means 26 is operated to release the arm 8 to allow its extension so that further extension of the cylinder 15 raises the platform to the vertical postion, Fig. 1. In a modification the pivot 18 is moved to a point on the platform 6 between the pivots 9, 10 thus removing the need for a latch 25. The stop 23 may be adjustable by being connected to the lever 20 by a further hydraulic cylinder.
