Abstract

1421374 Collapsible boxes PACKAGING INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 March 1973 [23 March 1972] 13580/72 Heading B8P A box having panels 2-5 of wood, plywood, hardboard, chipboard, fibreboard or a plastics material joined together by strips 6, 7 of steel or a plastics material has end panels 9, 10 hinged to a side panel by lugs 13, 14 that may be of steel. The lugs engage apertures 17-20 and have Y-shaped ends that can be bent after insertion in the apertures and cannot thereafter be withdrawn. The strips and lugs can be secured to the panels by punched out tongues 15 or by rivetting stitching or gluing. The panel 5 forms a lid and is fastened by a lug 23 engaging an aperture 25, and a tab 22 engages in a slot 27 in one of the end panels 9 (or 10). Tongues 28-30 engage apertures 31-33 in the strips 6, 7. Additional bands may be provided to strengthen the case.
