Abstract

1420820 Screw jacks METALLIFACTURE Ltd 23 April 1974 [24 April 1973] 19439/73 Heading B8J A jack comprises a metal-pressing body 10, including a column 11 of hollow pyramidal or conical form, a lead screw 19 rotatably mounted in the body 10, a nut 24 on the screw 19, a gear 26 rotatable with the nut 24, a pinion 30 rotatably mounted on the body 10 and in mesh with the gear 26, and a load bearing member 25 on the screw 19. As shown the screw 19 is telescopic, and the nut 24 is rotated through the gear 26 by a tool (not shown) inserted into a non-circular recess 34 in the pinion 30 to effect rotation thereof. The screw 19 is carried by a cast metal block 18 fitted into a complementary recess 15 in the column 11, which is made in two axially joined parts, (11a), (11b), Fig. 2 (not shown).
