Abstract

1420205 Development processes EASTMAN KODAK CO 160ct 1972 [14 Oct 1971] 47644/72 Heading G2C An imagewise exposed silver halide emulsion is developed in the presence of a complex of trivalent cobalt or chromium. The co-ordination number of the Cr (III) and Co (III) complex is preferably six, the ligands being selected from ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, triethylenetetraamine, NH 3 , NO 3 , N 2 , N 3 , Cl, SCN, NCS, H 2 O, CO 3 and EDTA. The complex, which is a development accelerator, is present in either the silver halide material or the developer solution. The developer solution may also contain a nucleating agent e.g. formyl-4-methylphenylhydrazine. One complex, the cobalt hexammine (III) complex, also functions as an anti-foggant.
