Abstract

1419322 Rotary engines; reciprocating pumps DORNIER SYSTEM GmbH 26 June 1973 [16 Aug 1972] 30327/73 Headings F1A and F1F In an I.C. engine the planetary motion of an epitrochoidal piston 2 is controlled by mechanism comprising rings 6x, 6y fixed to horizontal and vertical guide rods, respectively, and mounted on rotary discs (not shown) on a common eccentric 5, the guide rods, 7, 7' for the ring 6x serving as the pistons of reciprocating pumps 8, 8' for lubricating sealing strips 4. The pumps, distributing lines 12a, 12b, 12a', 12b' and non-return valves 11 may be arranged to feed lubricant to the sides of each strip alternately (as shown) or to both sides simultaneously. The outputs of the pumps may be dissimilar, that of each pump being determined by either the positions of feed lines 9, or 9', or the lengths of grooves 8a. Alternatively, the crosssections of the pumps may differ. The pump 8' may be replaced with one driven by the ring 6y, each pump serving a respective one of the sealing strips.
