1417022 Gas generating composition DOW CHEMICAL CO 16 Nov 1972 [17 Nov 1971] 52994/72 Heading C1D A gas generating composition comprises a mixture of an alkali metal azide and a halide of Sn, Al, Fe, Ti, Zn, Sr, Ba, Co, Ni, Mn, Mg, or Mo. The mixture may be pressed into a pellet which when ignited produces nitrogen for inflating the gas cushion of a passive restraint device for holding an automobile passenger in the seat during sudden deceleration.
