Abstract
1386422 Crash restraint bags ALLIED CHEMICAL CORP 2 Nov 1972 [3 Nov 1971] 50660/72 Heading B7B An inflatable crash restraint bag includes a source for providing inflating gas, the source comprising means for generating gas from combustible material, a container of compressed argon gas, and means for mixing the generated gas with argon gas during inflation. A chamber 2 containing compressed argon or argon and helium is normally sealed by a plug 3 ruptured by a detonator 4. The chamber includes a device 5 having combustible material 6, e.g. a polyvinyl propellant ignited by a squib 7. A mixture of the gases is supplied from the chamber 2 through an elbow 13.
