Abstract

Gas-generating compsn. which on combustion yields non-toxic odourless gas and a non-corrosive, odourless solid residue consists of 2.8-3.2 moles. Na, K or Li, aside and 0.8-1.2 moles. anhydr. chromic chloride. It also pref. contains 5-15 wt. % Al2O3 as a heat sink. It is esp useful for inflating automobile crash bags, but also for life-rats, escape ladders etc. A typical pref. comp. consists of 50.16% NaN3, 40.75% anhyd. CrCl3 and 9.09% Al2O3.
