Abstract
1416826 Convection dryers POLITECH. NIKA SLASKA IM W PSTROWSKIEGO GLIWICE 6 March 1973 [6 March 1972 20 April 1972 30 May 1972] 10919/73 Heading F4G A convection dryer has spaced perforate walls 2, 3 between which are located shelves 5 upon which the material to be dried is placed, hot air or exhaust gases being blown through the walls 2, 3 and through the material from a pipe 9. As shown, material is fed through pipes 7 on to shelves 5 which are carried through horizontal and vertical sections of the dryer by a chain conveyer 4 driven by a sprocket wheel 6 the number of teeth of which determine the rate of conveyer travel. The material is discharged at pipes 8 where it may be oil treated by sprayers 15 and fractionated by sieves 12. The hot air or exhaust gases are partially deducted, if polluted, by dust settling in the bottom of a chamber 10 and by dust removal in the material bed 1. Condensers 16 remove condensate from the drying agent after passage through exhaust pipe 11. Rammers 21, in the form of pistons or rollers, prevent channel formation in the dried material. In a further construction, Fig. 3 (not shown), the dryer has two chambers 10 separated by a partition wall 22 and a conveyer is provided in each chamber. The material may be coal, fine coal, coke, brown coke, sand or corn.
