Abstract
1416403 Inductors SIEMENS AG 25 June 1973 [14 Sept 1972] 30042/73 Heading HIT A radio-interference suppression choke for attentuating asymmetrical and symmetrical parasitic current comprises, on a closed annular ferromagnetic core, at least two windings serving to produce in the closed core mutually cancelling magnetic fluxes due to the working current; and within the window of the closed core an unwound core member having radial arms each spaced from the closed core with a non-magnetic gap. For single-phase circuits an annular ferrite core 1, Fig. 1, is bridged by a ferrite member 5, supported by insulative shims 6 in the non- magnetic gaps 2 and fastened with adhesive. Two windings on the closed core on opposite sides of the gapped member 5 are connected in respective power leads so that the working current, together with symmetrical parasitic currents, induces magnetic fluxes which are mutually cancelling in the closed core 1 but follow parallel paths 4 in the gapped magnetic circuit. The inductance due to this flux has an impedance which, while low at the working frequency, can be made adequate at radio-interference frequencies. Asymmetrical currents, i.e. those unbalanced with respect to earth, induce non-cancelling fluxes in the closed path 3 and so meet the full impedance of the closed core 1. A core suitable for a four-wire system is illustrated in Fig. 2.
