Abstract

1416132 Donning and doffing apparatus SACO-LOWELL CORP 29 March 1974 [30 April 1973] 13949/74 Heading DID An automatic doffing and donning apparatus in a yarn processing machine with two rows of spindles on respective sides of the machine comprises a grasper bar 24 corresponding to each row supported for vertical and lateral movement relative to the machine by pivotalble straight line motion mechanisms 36, actuating means being provided for pivoting both grasper bars 24 coordinately and simultaneously laterally relative to the machine, the actuating means being controlled to provide a predetermined linear movement which is translated into a pivoting of levers e.g. 68, one on each side of the machine, and hence a linear movement of control shafts e.g. 70, and further an angular pivoting of the mechanisms 36 to precisely position the grasper bars 24. The actuating means e.g. a pneumatic or hydraulic piston/ cylinder arrangement and the linear movement of shafts e.g. 70 is translated into a pivoting of the mechanisms 36 'by bell cranks 78, linkage arms 86 and pivot levers 96 on the base of the mechanisms 36. The bellcranks and levers 68 are mounted on anchor plates 74, 58 which are adjustably bolted on the machine frame to allow precise adjustment of the alignment of grasper bars 24 with the spindle rows.
