Abstract

1415714 Vehicle headlamp ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 23 Feb 1973 [25 Feb 1972 21 Sept 1972] 8870/73 Heading F4R The bulb assembly of a vehicle headlamp is sealed in the neck of the reflector of the headlamp by a retaining ring engaging the reflector, sealing means pressing against the bulb assembly and a cap engaging the retaining ring to press said sealing means against the bulb and against the retaining ring. In an embodiment a retaining ring 22 is joined to the neck 20 of a reflector 10 by soldering at 25. The retaining ring has a projection 26 and a catch 24 which hold the cap 31 against a sealing ring 27. The bulb assembly 16 has a plate 15 with a bar 21 engaging in a recess in the neck 20 so as to ensure correct alignment of the assembly. The cap 31 may be removed by levering with a screwdriver at 36. In other embodiments two sealing rings may be used (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) or three sealing rings (Figs. 3 and 6, not shown). In one embodiment (Fig. 6) spring clips (86) are used to keep the cap in place. The reflector may be secured to the retaining ring by clips (60, Fig. 4).
