Abstract

1415710 Valves HEPWORTH PLASTICS Ltd 27 Nov 1973 55032/73 Heading F2V [Also in Division A4] In a tap, a slidable, non-rotatable closure member is formed with an annular recess 20 having a pair of diametrically opposed webs 22 and a rotatable knob 9 is formed with a depending cylinder 11 received in the annular recess and provided with two identical camming surfaces 21 on its lower end. The camming surfaces co-operate with the webs to move the closure member relative to a seat 4 upon rotation of the knob. The camming surfaces are provided with stops 23 which limit rotation of the knob to 180 degrees. The body of the tap may be made of plastics material e.g. acetal resin. The detachable spout may also be of plastics material in different lengths, shapes and colours.
