Abstract

1415694 Sewing LIGHTNING FASTENERS LTD 10 Mav 1973 [15 June 1972] 28072/72 Heading D1G Two unassembled sliding clasp fastener stringers 6 are arranged with the coupling elements 7 facing in the same lateral direction and sewn by a twin-needle sewing machine to two lengths 3, 3a of garment material with the greater width portions of the lengths 3, 3a extending away from one another. As shown the sewing machine is provided with a basically Y-shaped flat tube with legs 8, 9 (Fig. 4) which separates an assembled fastener at C (Fig. 5), crosses over the stringers at I) if the coupling elements are not symmetrically arranged on the stringers and twists one of the strings at E to deliver the two stringers as required for sewing. The edge 12 of one stringer may be turned up to pass through a groove in the lower face of the presser foot 10.
