Abstract
600,127. Sliding-clasp fasteners. NEWEY BROS., Ltd., and NEWEY, J. G. Sept. 27, 1945, No. 25150. [Class 44] A covering strip f of fabric or the like to conceal the engaging parts of the elements of a sliding-clasp fastener is secured to the stringer tape a by a line of stitching b parallel to the edge of the tape, the stitches passing through the tape between the elements, while the thread g between the stitches is received in grooves h on opposite sides of the elements f. The covering strips may be stitched in position by a twin needle lockstitch machine having a feed dog provided with teeth spaced to fit between the elements. The covering strip may be secured by a further line of stitching j. The grooves h in the elements may be formed during manufacture, or may be made by milling after the elements have been fastened to the stringers.
