Abstract

1415662 Filling boxes GKN SCREWS & FASTENERS Ltd 30 April 1973 [12 Feb 1972] 6648/72 Heading B8C Apparatus for supporting a box being filled comprises a tubular structure 15 having open upper and lower ends to permit movement of a box therethrough, and a member 21 movable between an upper position in which it supports the box at least partly within the structure 15 and a lower position in which the box is clear of the structure. The box is a friction fit in the structure which is removably connected to a shoot 10 leading from a weighing or counting mechanism. The member is mounted by means of a piston-vibrator unit 24 and springs 23 on a beam 22 which is pivoted to raise or lower the member. The unit 24 can be operated continuously or for a timed period. A filled box is removed by an ejector (27) which can be operated through a parallelogram linkage. Boxes are supplied from a magazine or directly from a box-making apparatus. The box may have a separate lid or an integral closure flap.
