Abstract
1,225,376. Packing machines. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE-GES. 28 May, 1968 [29 May, 1967], No. 25415/68. Heading B8C. Apparatus for raising bags until their contents reach a predetermined level and for impressing fold lines into the walls of the bags has a conveyer 2 carrying a plurality of filled bags 1 in containers 3 with movable bases 4 past a support member 7 rotating in phase with the conveyer. The support member has at least two arms 8 each with a lever 10 and attached to the lever 10 is a plate 13 with a lever 13a. The lever 10 is normally held in contact with arm 8; however it can be moved out of contact by a control curve 21 and this movement combines with the movement of lever 13a in a stationary curved track 20 to cam gauge levers 14 into the open bags and pivot them so that the end faces form a plane. A pusher 5 displaces the base 4 vertically to bring the contents of the bag into contact with the gauge levers, any further movement of the pusher compressing a spring 5b. The outer impressing arms 15 are cammed so that they combine with arms 14 to impress the walls of the bag. Arms 14 and 15 are then returned to rest and the bags are passed to a closing station.
