1323287 Packaging flat articles SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE - GESELLSCHAFT 15 June 1972 [15 June 1971] 27966/72 Heading B8C Apparatus for packaging flat articles, e.g. biscuits 2 into containers open at one side and having at least one pocket 3 for receiving a stack 22 of articles 2, comprises a stacking device 33 for forming vertical stacks 22 which are introduced by horizontal movement into the pockets when the containers are in a sidewise position, an output path 28 for carrying away filled containers when the containers are in their normal position, a downwardly directed input channel 5 into which the containers are guided in a sidewise position on to a pivoted holder 10 below the channel 5, the stack or stacks being deposited on to one end of a track 19 having drivers 23 which move the stack or stacks along the track 19 into the pocket or pockets 3 when the container is in its sidewise position on the holder 10, the latter then pivoting the filled container into the normal position and placing it on to the output path 28. As shown, each container is provided with three pockets 3 which are filled simultaneously by three stacks 22 derived from three channels 6 the height of the stacks being determined by separators 36 and the stacks being lowered by a push-rod 35 on to the track 19. The containers 1 may be severed from a strip by a cutter 50 and are held in the channel 5 by a pivoted stop 17. The movements of a holding plunger 38 for the articles in channel 6, the separators 36, drivers 23, and rod 35 and a plunger 27 for moving filled containers to the output path 28, are all derived from a main shaft 42 on which are mounted central cams 43 1 -43 5 which co-operate with levers 45 1 -45 5 . Further cams and linkages may be provided for synchronizing the movement of the stop 17 and a lever 12 for actuating the holder 10. The containers may be formed from deep drawn plastics material.
