Abstract

1415643 Analyzing materials using x-rays LUCAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 10 Oct 1972 [12 Nov 1971] 52632/71 Headiog G1A In an apparatus for measuring the amount of vapour present in a liquid stream flowing through a chamber 14, two opposed walls of the chamber are transparent to x-rays produced from an element 21 of plutonium 238, which pass through the liquid stream to be incident on a detector 22. The source is collimated and the output from a scintillation head 22 is displayed on a counter 23. The apparatus may be calibrated using liquids of known vapour content in a closed measuring chamber.
