Abstract

1415578 Draw-texturing yarns HEBERLEIN & CO AG 21 June 1973 [21 June 1972] 29592/73 Headings DID and D1F In a process for draw-texturing yarn by means of apparatus including a yarn drawing means 2, 3 and yarn false twist texturing means 6, prior to commencement of the texturing operation, a reserve of slack yarn is inserted between the drawing means and the texturing means. The reserve is formed by engaging the yarn with a yarn guide between the drawing and texturing means, which guide is positioned to increase the yarn path between the drawing and texturing means and is removed prior to commencement of the texturing process, whereby the slack yarn is taken up and yarn breakages reduced or avoided. In one embodient the yarn 1 is engaged by a guide 7 mounted on a pivoted lever 8 which is moved into and out of the yarn path. In a further embodiment, the yarn is selectively engaged with yarn guides outside the yarn path and released by a spring prior to texturing. In a still further embodiment, the yarn is wrapped round a pin inserted in the yarn path, which pin is removed prior to texturing. In an alternative embodiment, a yarn guide 9 is fixed to a lever 10 which mounts pressure rollers 11 for pivotal movement towards and away from a fixed roller 12. The rollers 11 and 12 form the last delivery rollers of the drawing device and in operation the yarn 1 passes round the rollers 11 and engages the guide 9 and then passes to the texturing device. Prior to texturing the lever 10 is pivoted to bring the rollers 11 into position where the yarn engages the roller 12 and is disengaged from guide 9, a reserve of slack yarn thereby being formed between the drawing and texturing means.
