Abstract

141,540. Walpole, N. C. May 27, 1919. Ordnance tubes. - Lining-. tubes are inserted in a finished condition, and are positively secured by electric welding either at the muzzle end only or at both ends. In the construction shown, annular grooves 4 are turned at each end of the gun partly in the liner 3 and partly in the body 2, and rings of metal 5 are welded electrically in such grooves. The welded portions are bored out when re-lining is necessary.
