1413065 Ticket vending machine D CRESSWELL-CLOUGH 8 June 1973 27417/73 Heading G4V A ticket vending machine comprises a rotatable shaft 39 carrying sprockets 43 for engaging a perforated ticket 16, operating means 48 freed by the insertion of a coin for movement from a first to a second position, latching means 102 connected between said shaft and said operating means for preventing or releasing rotation of said shaft when said operating means is in the first or second position respectively and shaft drive means 58, 60 and 62 connected between said shaft and said operating means for causing unidirectional rotation of said shaft during sequential movement of the operating means from its first to second position and then from the second to the first position. In the embodiment described the operating means comprises a coin receiving slide 49 having one or more coin apertures 50 and is connected to arm 58 by a pin. and slot connection 65, 66. On depression of the slide (Fig. 6, not shown) arm 58 rotates rocker 60 carrying a spring loaded plunger 80 which engages the surface of a ratchet disc 62 (see also Figs. 7 and 8, not shown) the plunger riding over the ratchet teeth in this direction of rotation of the rocker. Rotation of shaft 39 is normally prevented by the engagement of a cam (105) fixed to the shaft with a pin (115) carried by arm 102 (Figs. 9 and 10, not shown). On depression of the slide the arm 102 is pivoted by a part (136) of the slide (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) and a second pin (116) on the arm rotates cam (105) so that on retraction of the slide and return of the arm 102 by spring 113 the cam (105) is free from both pins (115) and (116) and enables the shaft 39 to be rotated by the rocker 60 acting on ratchet disc 62. A switch 84 is operated on depression of the slide to operate a stamping mechanism 36.
