Abstract

1,245,401. Change giving. CARRERAS Ltd. 5 Sept., 1968 [12 June, 1967], No. 27108/67. Headings G4V and G4X. A detachable change-giving mechanism for a coin-freed device comprises a rotor 5, Fig. 2, provided with compartments 8 which are loaded with change which is delivered upon actuation of the coin-freed device and consequent rotation of the rotor. A pivoted lever 1 of the coin freed device moves rightwards, to rotate an arm 18 having two pawls 30 which contact a ratchetwheel 31, Fig. 1, connected to the rotor shaft 20. The arm 18 steps the ratchet upon its return, thus bringing a next compartment 8 above an aperture 25 to deposit its coins into a shoot 26. The lever 1 is prevented from returning prematurely by a spring-loaded ratchet 34, Fig. 2. A catch 32 projects between arms 7 of the rotor to hold the rotor stationary and is moved clear of the rotor when the arm 18 is rotated. Alternatively, a similar catch may operate on the ratchet. To reload the mechanism it is detached from the coin freed device by disconnecting lugs 29, and a transparent plastics disc 12, Fig. 1, is unscrewed from the back. Arm 12 is biased by a spring 27 and a helical spring (not shown).
